Ray Johnson | President & Founder US Solar Institute, President USSolar & Florida Solar One
Ray is the Founder and President of The US Solar Institute (a Certified Florida Department of Education Licensed Institute), USSolar and Solar One (Florida Certified Solar Contractor). Ray holds licenses in mechanical engineering, solar contracting, continuing education instruction, real estate & real estate appraising. He is a Certified UL PV Installer and Master Instructor, a professional colleague of the National Science Foundation, a member of the US Green Building Council, Green Mechanical Council, American Solar Energy Society, International Solar Energy Society, American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers and a past President of the Society of Automotive Engineers while attending Ohio State University.
Ray is the Master Trainer for US Solar Institute and UL University and known as an enthusiastic and dynamic engineering minded instructor who brings the best out of students regardless of their background, education and capabilities.
Ray has been involved in large building construction, design and programming for 20 years. His portfolio includes over $1 billion, designing professionally engineered building systems such as: commercial, industrial and institutional hydronic air conditioning, advanced building automation control systems, detailed energy audits with performance contracting solutions, financing, retail development, photovoltaic power production, distribution, training and commissioning, domestic solar thermal system installation and performance contracting.
Projects include: CNN Headquarters, TBS studios, Duracell Battery, Coca Cola, UPS, Miami International Airport, Quad Graphics, Print Pak, Mayo Clinic, Broward Medical Center, JFK Medical Center, Palms West Hospital, Ave Maria University, 1996 Atlanta Olympic games (all construction), Georgia Tech’s aquatics center (solar and thermal), West Point Stevens (16 locations), .
Education
Ray received a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Economics from the Ohio State University.

Henry Healy, PE | Lead Instructor PV / ST Programs
Mr. Healey is president of the Florida Alternative Energy Corp, a Consulting Engineering firm with extensive experience in the design and construction of solar energy projects for commercial, industrial, and governmental facilities. Mr. Healey has developed, designed and commissioned more than a hundred of solar projects, including solar heating, cooling and electric (PV) for Federal, Commercial and Industrial (C&I) facilities.
He routinely provides facility owners, managers and the solar community, assistance in the development, design, acquisition, construction, and installation of solar energy systems. He has developed low cost designs for process heating and diagnosed problems with, corrected and returned service to poorly performing or inoperative solar systems cost effectively.
He specializes in the design of cost effective systems for commercial and industrial applications and has developed training programs and associated manuals for architects, engineers, contractors, facility managers and maintenance staff. Mr. Healey has been actively involved in solar applications since the-mid 70′s and recently commissioned solar projects at NASA (KSC), DOS and NPS. He assisted NASA (MSFC) in evaluation of projects in the National Solar Heating and Cooling Demonstration program.
He directed the Solar Facilities program for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and the agencies Photovoltaic program. Mr. Healey served on the Solar Federal Buildings Editorial Review Board and the US Dept of Energy Federal Photovoltaic Program Advisory Committee. He was a consultant to USDOE (ETEC) and ASHRAE for the Solar Federal Buildings Program and assisted in the development of ASHRAE’s Solar Design, Installation and O & M manuals. He serves as a consultant and trainer for ASHRAE, the Florida Solar Energy Center and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Mr. Healey has assisted in the development of training programs and publications for ASHRAE, NREL and FSEC including the FEMP Solar Water Heating & FSEC’s Commercial Solar System Operation and Maintenance publications.
Education
Mr. Healey received a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Masters of Mechanical Engineering from University of Pennsylvania and began to pursue a doctorate from the George Washington University.

Award recognized work developing an Energy & Environmental educational program for the Business community entitled “Investing in the Environment is Good Business” in conjunction with Rotary that distributed the program to Rotary Clubs throughout the state and selected it for display at their International meeting. The program was selected by Carol Browner, then Director of Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection, for use in training DEP Personnel

- He received ASHRAE’s Technology Award for Renewable Energy Use in 1994 for a low cost site built solar process water heating in an agricultural application, an award from the Florida Department of Commerce and the Florida Solar Energy Industry Association for a combination of Solar Water Heating and PV projects at a Recreational Complex in 1995.
- He personally designed and commissioned the majority of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) projects as well as the four kW PV exhibit installed on the converted coal barge for the Worlds Fair in Knoxville. The Worlds Fair PV installation, viewed by millions, powered the exhibits as well as a pumping system on one of the two coal barges demonstrating to all the viability of PV.
- Mr Healey has provided solar designs, evaluations and technical assistance to organizations such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Tennessee Valley Authority, NASA, the U.S. Department of Energy, the United Nations and numerous professional, commercial and industrial concerns.

Marc Odden | Operations Manager
Marc Odden is the Operations Manager at USSolar Institute and USSolar. His years of experience working with professional engineers, contractors and sales support provides the foundation for all aspects of the day to day business at both companies.
Marc is a USSolar Certified Solar Associate and the administrator for the Department of Education Diploma Program, Department of Business and Professional Regulation and Construction Industry Licensing Board Continuing Education administrator.
Marc came to USSI to learn the industry over two years ago and we never let him leave. He has worked every position at the college starting as an intern all the way to the Operations Manager position in short order. As one of the most valuable teammates at USSolar, Marc is responsible for the day to day operation of multiple departments.
Marc is a USSolar Certified Solar Associate and the administrator for the Department of Education Diploma Program, Department of Business and Professional Regulation and Construction Industry Licensing Board Continuing Education Administrator.

Aaron Just | Director of Labs & Master Electrician
Aaron has over 25 years as a master electrician and is a Florida State Certified Electrical Contractor. He is both a USSolar and UL Certified PV Installer, an OSHA 30 Hour Certificate holder and Florida Electrical Industry Licensing Board Instructor. He leads the instruction of PV301 and PV401 with a safety first mindset that puts the "Real" in Real World Training at USSI.
A proven leader in the field of PV installation, code compliance and electrical safety. Aaron brings out the best of all who work in the field under his supervision with a consistent positive professionalism as fine as one can find anywhere in the field of electrical contracting, electrical code compliance and personal safety.

Joe Cataldo | PV Design Engineer
Joe is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Micro-electric Fabrication, Photonics, and Power Electronics. A feat accomplished in 3 short years of this rigorous 5 year program.
He is the author of the popular PV101 online course as well as a leading instructor of PV201 and a USSolar Certified Associate.
Joe responsible for the analysis and recommendation of various PV components and power electronics for USSolar and Florida Solar One projects. In his first year at USSolar he developed impressive off grid systems for both NASA at Cape Canaveral and the US Naval Base in Key West, Florida.

Mark C Ode | Board of Advisors | 25 year NEC Code Panelist | Master UL Electrical and PV Code Instructor
Mark C. Ode, Senior Engineering Instructor at the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina UL University for two years and a former member of UL’s Regulatory Services Department for ten years, and was a Senior Electrical Specialist for the National Fire Protection Association.
He is a former staff liaison and secretary to the NFPA Electrical Equipment in Chemical Atmospheres Committee. He was the Executive Secretary for the NFPA Electrical Section and editor of the Electrical Section news bulletin, Current Flashes.
Prior to joining NFPA, Mr. Ode worked for over 27 years as a licensed electrician and a licensed electrical contractor. He was a licensed electrician in the State of Massachusetts. He has taught the National Electrical Code throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. He also taught the NEC for 10 years at Maricopa County Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.
He is certified for electrical inspection for one and two family dwellings, general electrical installations, and for electrical plan review by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), and is certified as a general electrical inspector by the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO).
He is certified as an electrical instructor for the States of Wyoming, New Jersey, North Carolina, Michigan, and Massachusetts, as well as others. He was Vice-President of Field Operations for an engineering firm for two years and was President of Ode Electric for 15 years. He has been an electrical code columnist for Electrical Contractor magazine since January of 2000.
He was a principle member of NEC Panel 20 for the 1990 NEC. He was an alternate member of NEC Panel 3 for the 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2011 NEC and was principle member of Panel 4 for the 2002, 2005, 2008 NEC. He is a principle member of Panel 13 for the 2011 NEC. He was an alternate on the NEC Technical Correlating Committee for the 2005 and 2008 NEC and is an alternate member of the NEC TCC for the 2011 NEC. He has been a member of IAEI since September 15, 1975.

Eric Parzianello | Corporate Counsel | Board of Directors
Eric is the corporate attorney and business counselor for all USSolar companies. He is a founding partner of Hubbard, Snitchler & Parzianello PLC, is licensed to practice in both Florida and Michigan and is listed by Business Magazine as one of America's Top Lawyers.
He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from the University of Detroit where he served as managing editor of the Michigan Business Law Journal.
Eric continues to enjoy writing and maintains a blog called “Legal Trickery.”
He represents entrepreneurs involved in diverse enterprises and advises them on various business issues including risk management, partnership and employment agreements as well as other contractual matters.
Eric is also a trial and appellate lawyer who has argued cases in the Michigan Supreme Court and various other federal and state courts around the country.
Education
He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from the University of Detroit where he served as managing editor of the Michigan Business Law Journal.

Pheonix | Our Beloved Mascot
The best dog one has ever known or heard about. Phoenix once stopped the Conch Republic Days Parade to be Honored as the Vice President. He likes people, loves solar and afternoon naps these days. We will forever miss and love you, best friend!
