PV 301 Advanced Photovoltaic System Design, Installation and Maintenance

This highly desirable course prepares one for a career in solar by providing real world training in the photovoltaic energy and power industry.  In this course, the students actually learn the business of solar from sales opportunity discovery all the way to producing bid or permit ready documents for a solar installation.

This course is instructed by our lead solar professors, general contractors, state certified solar contractors, building officials, architects, engineers, scientists, manufacturers and electrical energy corporate professionals.  Anyone who works (or wants to) in the following areas will gain a marketable knowledge base and educational experience demanded by the market for work and employment opportunities.

We train the solar industry’s leading corporations, contractors, estimators, engineers, plan reviewers, inspectors, architects, manufacturing specialists, sales, service and marketing professionals.  In this class you will:

  • Learn how to find work and construction opportunities in solar energy
  • Conduct site analysis and inspection and energy use and demand management
  • Use online tools, useful programs and software
  • Estimate savings, cost and return on investment
  • Make application for rebates and tax credits.
  • Actually design, estimate, bid, submit and make permit application for real world projects
  • Understand the project management skills required to build, pass inspections and complete permitted jobs. While learning how to:
  • Start up, commission and maintain Photovoltaic  systems.

Although every state is different, this course is intended to meet the real world installation and experience requirement for state certified solar contractor licenses.  Upon completion graduates are eligible to work as an intern or extern in PV-401.

Note:

Prerequisite PV-201, OR:

  • Completion of PV Installation & Design Course with Solar Energy International, Solar Living Institute, Florida Solar Energy Center or equal.
  • Two years of design, installation or related experience with proper documentation.
  • Entry-level NABCEP certification with documentation and an intake interview.
  • Exceptions to the above may be granted by US Solar Institute after careful review of email request and telephone interview.
