Florida Department of Education
The Florida Department of Education is one of the most important supporters of the US Solar Institute. Florida’s Board of Commissioners for Independent Education unanimously approved license number 4247 to the US Solar Institute. US Solar Institute is a fully licensed solar institute in the State of Florida and provides the only licensed PV Diploma program in the United States.
Undewriters Laboratories (UL) is an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization. Testing products for public safety for more than a century. US Solar Institute provides subject matter expertise, content and facilitation to UL for their PV training courses since 2010. US Solar Institute hosts and provides UL courses and examinations at our Fort Lauderdale campus.
The mission of the international nonprofit NFPA, established in 1896, is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. NFPA develops, publishes, and disseminates more than 300 consensus codes and standards intended to minimize the possibility and effects of fire and other risks. Virtually every building, process, service, design, and installation in society today is affected by NFPA documents. US Solar Institute supports NFPA by using the National Electrical Code in every class and providing training for fire fighting officials throughout the state of Florida and Caribbean.
US Green Building Council
The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a 501 c3 non-profit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. US Solar Institute’s faculty and staff have been members of the USGBC for over 15 years.
American Solar Energy Society
Established in 1954, the nonprofit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is a national leading association of solar professionals & advocates. US Solar Institute is an active member of ASES.

Mike Holt worked his way up through the electrical trade from an apprentice electrician to a master electrician and electrical inspector. In 1973, Mike was certified as an electrical instructor and in 1975 became an electrical contractor. In 1980 he stopped electrical contracting to completely devote his time to electrical training.
