At US Solar Institute our job is to educate people when it comes to solar energy.  Our solar training classes include a combination of lecture, group activities, class participation, and hands-on lab activities.  Before a student even shows up for the first day of our PV 201: Introduction to PV Design & Installation class, there is required reading and a pre-work quiz is assigned.  This helps students with different professional, education, and training backgrounds start off the class with some basic solar knowledge.  Instructional videos are also an integral part of the learning process since many people are visual learners.  Overall, our courses are designed to appeal to all of the students’ senses, whether it’s visual or hands-on, but for those of you who have not made it to a class just yet, we thought we’d share a short video discussing the basics of solar energy.

The following video was created by the US Department of Energy.  Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems can generate clean, cost-effective power anywhere the sun shines. This video shows how a PV panel converts the energy of the sun into renewable electricity to power homes and businesses. Enjoy and we hope to have you be a part of one of our classes soon!
