Title PV Electrical Engineer

Job Description: You will be part of the project design team responsible for designing ground mounted utility-scale PV power plants capable of being installed, operated, and maintained at breakthrough cost levels, across North America.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide electrical engineering support in the design of utility scale solar power plant projects including project design, equipment specification, code compliance, technical research, leading to the preparation of complete permit submittal packages
  • Create and redline AutoCAD drawings of PV systems including one line and three line diagrams
  • Working knowledge of PV system components and sizing methods including their specifications, cost, efficiency, code compliance, performance, and reliability
  • Knowledge of safety features, grounding, disconnects, SCADA, system testing, and troubleshooting
  • Able to support the generation of 1-line and 3-line schematics
  • Working directly with component manufacturers, and our own Construction Team and their sub-contractors in the field
  • Ability to creatively consider cost reduction ideas and strategies
  • Well versed in all applicable codes (NEC, UL, NESC, CAS, IEEE, etc.)
  • Able to trade efficiency, output, and costs to optimize system
  • Preparation of permit submittal packages, bills of material, operational and maintenance procedures, safety plans, energization plans

The Sales Engineer (SE), PVPS will identify, target and develop new accounts in the Commercial sector. Will establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base. The primary purpose of this team is to drive value add solutions in the highly competitive Solar marketplace. The SE for PVPS must have a solid technical background as well as have the financial acumen to drive our Financing options (direct lease to PPA spectrum). The SE must have experience in selling large scale projects to Commercial customers. The SE will have a deep understanding of solar project and will utilize that understanding to develop and expand this business unit. With proven ‘consultative’ sales experience, the SE will identify solutions which enable the customer to utilize Solar as a meaningful component to their ongoing renewable energy strategy.

Job Functions:

 

1. Retain, identify, target and develop new accounts. This includes preparing account plans with measurable metrics (maintains accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports).

2. The SE must define and penetrate new targeted organizations and establish who the key decision makers are in the given organizations. The sales person must be able to build relationships which seek a long term relationship (solution sale) versus simple component sale.  The SE prepares and reviews account plans to insure meeting the customer’s needs while protecting the company’s position in the marketplace.

3. Product Strategy and Positioning – The SE plays a crucial role in determining the product strategy and financial solutions which can be customized to meet the customers “clean energy needs”.

4. The candidate must be able to understand the customers desire to tailor certain components to meet their financial models and build a balanced solution which benefits both the customer and KYOCERA Solar, Inc.

5. This position will “own” the customer relationship and work with marketing, engineering, finance and operations to interface the entire KYOCERA Solar, Inc. organization to understand the customer’s needs and future plans. This includes coordinating and solving any problems that arise when the product is installed.

6. Prepares Annual Plan, Monthly Sales Plan, Forecasts, and other data for Profit/Loss reporting for sales.

7. Responsible for managing Profit/Loss statements, Operating Expense reports for the Business Unit including meeting the established plans.

8.  Preparing and submitting concepts, plans, proposals, and quotations in response to customer inquiries or contacts. Assists peers with account plans, proposals and presentations when needed.

9.  Professionally representing the Company at trade shows, conferences, and meetings.

10. Continuously evaluating personal performance and implementing improvements where required.

11. Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements

. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or an equivalent field.

.  Proven experience in consultative sales environment.

. Minimum of 5 years of Sales to Commercial Customers of highly complex systems and solutions.

. Work experience and deep understanding of ESCO is highly desirable. Utility industry work experiences a plus.

. Strong understanding of customer requirements and market dynamics.

· Willingness to travel and work on national accounts (America’s).

· Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and analytical skills.

· Strong team-orientation/skills required.

. Proficient with Microsoft Office and familiar with SAP or similar operating systems.

  • - Develop designs of residential, commercial, and utility scale solar systems including but not limited to electrical and mechanical aspects of the projects. Designs should include consideration to module placement, conduit routing, electrical equipment placement, etc.
  • - Conduct site visits to plan the locations of equipment and interconnection to the site’s existing electrical system
  • - Produce construction documents, installation manuals, etc. to direct construction teams during installations.
