US Solar Institute Broward County’s 3-Time Emerald Green Award Winner Speaks Up at Broward Go Solar 2014
US Solar Institute is Broward County’s 3-Time Emerald Green Award Winner and Broward Go Solar Fest 2014 top sponsor. Presentations by Ray Johnson June 7th at the Broward County Convention Center will provide education and information about the Florida and Caribbean markets.
Fort Lauderdale, FL (Marketwire) June 4, 2014 – At the upcoming June 6th~7th US Solar Go Solar Fest 2014 conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The US Solar Institute (USSolar) will showcase both their education and comprehensive range of solar energy service offerings to promote its leading role within the Florida, Latin America and Caribbean solar markets.
US Solar Institute is Broward County’s 3-Time Emerald Green Award Winner. Decorated for their leadership in Recycling, Climate Change Leadership Green Practices and Innovation USSolar Institute provides Solar Parts and Smarts© to solar energy consumers, contractors and dealers.
The company also provides highly qualified solar training to persons, electrical inspectors and corporations; as well as, delivering comprehensive construction, design and wholesale equipment distribution for the Florida, Caribbean and Latin American markets.
People literately travel from all around the globe to spend a month at the college’s award wining program. Their Diploma and Certification programs provide the “human capital” of well-trained persons required for their ongoing installation and construction services in the Caribbean and Latin American markets whose new projects must use local talent to meet government labor laws, lower labor costs and to qualify for solar-related permits and incentives.
According to USSolar Institute President, Ray Johnson, “Because the majority of our graduates come from places like Cayman, Jamaica and the Bahamas, we already have a deep network of licensed dealers, partners, and installers throughout the Caribbean.” He adds, “Plus, we provide additional on-site training to ensure the continued development of local talent long after the panels are installed”.
The Go Solar Broward convention will cover hot topics in hopes of finding solutions during the two-day event paid for by a federal grant and sponsorship of US Solar and other local companies. To date Broward County has received over $6 million dollars in government funds to advance solar over the past 5 years but little has changed. In fact many ask “where did all that money go”?
For example last years Go Solar Event was propped up by a $685,000 grant that promised an expedited permit process that never came online and continues to elude persons hoping to Go Solar in Florida and Broward County.
Florida is the Sunshine State but lags way behind other states with less resources, population and funding. Florida citizens continue to suffer with challenging legislation, stifling electrical monopolies and floundering government programs like PACE and Expedited Permitting Processes. Despite it all USSolar believes they can help in these areas and the reason US Solar is the top sponsor and a speaker for the event.
USSolar also boasts extensive experience with financing arrangements, given its relationships with national investment banks, regional lenders and governments. “We will be showcasing very cost effective and affordable solar installation services, financing options and mechanisms for Florida’s home and business owners to Go Solar cheaper, faster and better than any government program can provide” states Johnson.
“One of the biggest challenges in the Florida and Caribbean solar markets is access to the market – both for integrators, investors and manufacturers,” comments Johnson. “We broker the necessary contracts, negotiate terms, and protect cash flows to ensure new solar projects are completed securely and will perform profitably.”
Florida is the Sunshine State but power monopolies Florida Power and Light and Duke Energy cast enormous shadows over the solar industry with their control of the laws and legislation intended to keep solar out of the Sunshine State.
Florida has laws in place that prevent third parties from producing power unlike solar rich economies such as California and Hawaii who embrace and encourage solar power. What many people do not realize is sun starved states such as New Jersey and Massachusetts are leading Florida almost 10 to 1 with installed commercial and residential solar energy installations because Florida’s energy monopolies keep a strangle hold on electricity generation for themselves.
“The good people of Florida should be in an outrage over what the FP&L has done done and continues to do. They have snatched billions of dollars out of our pockets, lobby relentlessly to keep solar down while expanding nuclear power on the coral reef on Turkey Point in Miami, Florida! All the while, they show us pretty solar energy commercials on TV and boastful ads on the radio about their solar energy investments”.
Johnson feels Florida residents and citizens must be heard and asks all attendees to join the Florida Solar Industries leading voice – The Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy or FARE.
Johnson believes that if the people of Florida want more solar they must step up and let their voices be heard. US Solar plans to Use Go Solar Fest 2014 to also showcase FARE and to share how everyone who attends can help Florida Go Solar.
“The booth will be a sharing place at the show for people to join the Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy (FARE) and Florida Solar Energy Industries Association (Fla SEIA)” says Johnson. “We hope to raise over $5,000 and add 100 members at the convention for these advocates and champions for Florida’s Solar Energy Industry”.
