Our introductory course, PV-201: Introduction to PV Design & Installation, and our intermediate course, PV-301: Advanced PV Installation, are 40 hours each (Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm). The PV-401: On the Job Training course is an internship that is 40 hours and varies from job to job. The 3 courses are part of a diploma program that can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 months to complete, depending on your schedule.

Unlike most solar training schools, we are licensed by the Department of Education and offer a true Photovoltaic Diploma Program. The program consists of 3 courses: PV-201: Introduction to PV Design & Installation, PV-301: Advanced PV Design, and PV-401: Field Training.

You will receive a US Solar Institute Certificate of Completion with each level of the program completed. When you have completed and passed all the requirements for the graduate program, you will receive a US Solar Institute Diploma that is licensed by the Florida Department of Education. This is a highly sought after and respected Diploma in the solar market. Read more about our program here.

USSI is a registered NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) PV Exam Provider, and after completing our PV-201 course you are eligible to take the NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam.

You do not need experience in solar to take our courses. Most students start in our PV 201: Introduction to PV Design & Installation course. Our courses will cover the basic principles of how solar energy is produced and take you through advanced design and installation concepts and teach you everything you need to be successful in the solar industry.

Yes, we use several excellent textbooks and reference materials throughout our course curriculum. When you register for our program, we will send you information on the textbooks required for each course. We offer books and lab materials for sale through our online store.
