Last week our phones were off the hooks.

Why?

Because last week marked the first day in which soldiers across the country could log-in and apply for VA solar training benefits.

That’s right – solar installation training now qualifies under Montgomery Bill-approved educational benefits and the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program or VRAP.  And US Solar Institute (USSI) is the world’s first to be approved to provide solar training that is partially or fully covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs under the GI Bill, Montgomery Bill and VRAP.

Using your Montgomery Bill solar educational benefits, it may even be possible to secure a housing allowance, if for example, you wanted to attend USSI but you live outside of Florida.

The list of official approved schools isn’t public record yet – and we expect the provider number to be an announcement anytime in the next several weeks.  But as of last Wednesday, you could start the 30-day application process required to secure an approval letter and officially register for our solar PV installation courses.

There are a few required steps to take advantage of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Montgomery Bill solar educational benefits.  Your local VA chapter should be able to provide some literature, and you can also contact us if you have any questions about how to start.

Because the entire process can take 30+ days, you’ll want to get the ball rolling ASAP.  This is especially true if you plan on using your Montgomery Bill solar education benefits with USSI – the waiting list for our first potential class (slated in July) is filling up quickly.

Hope to see you soon.
