Local Jamaican company, Chad Ad Distributors, contracts USSolar to install 30K watts of solar panels at its New Port West Kingston Jamaica Distribution and Service Center.

Kingston, Jamaica West Indies – June 3, 2013 – As one of the Caribbean’s busiest ports, Kingston, Jamaica receives a daily influx of barges from around the world.  Every day, local businessman, Geoffory Zaidie, eyes these imports, waiting for the parts he needs for Chad Ad Distributors –the country’s premier automotive and truck tire installer and retailer.

But in recent months, Zaidie has kept an equally close eye on the fuel barges that come and go.  When asked about his ongoing interest in fuel imports, Zaidie explains that his company depends heavily on uninterrupted power to ensure his tire repair and installation bays remain fully operational yet, the price of his light bill keeps going up…. with no limit in sight.

In a country where millions routinely go without power, Zaidie considers himself lucky.  As the head of a successful company that employs more than 45 workers he has retrofitted the shop with LED lights, Inverter AC’s and a large generator.  And yet, even after all of this he’s not immune to rising fuel prices and unreliable power.  He explains, “No lights equals no sales – it’s as simple as that.”

After learning that solar could help reduce his reliance on grid electricity, Zaidie spoke with a number of local installers but remained skeptical about the promise of “free energy.”

However, after attending USSolar’s Jamaica Alternative Energy Conference in April of this year, Zaidie began taking solar more seriously.

“What I wanted was proof of how it worked – not charts and slick brochures,” He states.  “USSolar presented a no non-sense energy analysis with turn-key system installation costs and showed me a working solar array’s on a smart phone.  I could actually watch the energy being generated in real time. Very high tech and impressive”

Following this experience, Zaidie contracted USSolar to outfit his rooftop with 30,000 watts of solar panels specifically designed for the Jamaican market – an installation that will save his company more than JA$2 million per year.

“I’m happy about having a lower electricity bill and the quality of the installation was exceptional,” says Zaidie.  “But I’m even more pleased that JPS is out of my pocket now baby.”
