We couldn’t be more excited….US Solar Institute’s award-winning solar installation training is finally offering PV training online, starting June 1, 2012.
The reason for this? People everywhere want to learn how to install solar panels online. Starting June 1, 2012 our solar training classes will be available to thousands of interested students outside of Florida, like Jamaica, Bahamas and the Caribbean, who can’t fly to Fort Lauderdale for our weeklong solar education courses.
PV101 – Online Solar Training in the Fundamentals
The first online solar training module to be released is PV101 – Solar Fundamentals. This is an invaluable introduction to those terms and concepts most critical to anyone wanting to enter the solar PV industry with a solid foundation.
In fact, the information contained in this introductory course is so important that PV101 is a prerequisite for the follow-up class, PV201.
By ensuring that you master the fundamentals of insolation, Ohm’s Law, and sun path charts, we’re able to devote more time in later modules to OHSA safety standards, the National Electrical Code, and hands-on training (yes, these online solar courses include hands-on training – read more down below).
According to Engineering Professor and Lead Instructor, Ray Johnson, “We felt we had to raise the bar a little higher again to ensure that our students have the deepest and most comprehensive solar education possible.”
PV201 – Online Solar Training in PV Design and Installation
Next in the line-up is PV201, the online version of our award-winning Introduction to PV Design & Installation. Slated for early July (after Independence Day), PV201 picks up where PV101 left off, introducing students to solar system design, set-up, and installation.
PV301 – Online Solar Training in Advanced PV Installation
Scheduled to go live in August, PV301 continues PV201 but with a much deeper focus in the regulatory, safety, and business aspects of solar installation. You learn everything from wire size & system selection to estimates and bids all in accordance to the National Electric Code 2011.
But Can PV Training Online Be As Good As In-Class Training?
One of the reasons we’ve delayed online solar courses for so long was because we wanted to maintain our reputation for real world, hands-on training – an indispensable part of the solar installation process.
You simply cannot become a qualified and knowledgeable solar installer without actually using the equipment.
To ensure that you receive this hands-on training, we will offer multiple weeks of on and off campus installations to complement our online solar training modules.
Coined PV201-HL (“hands on lab”), these in-person practice modules will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays several times every quarter to meet growing demand for hands-on training.
If you complete all three of our online courses, you’ll be eligible to take both PV201-HL and our intensive PV401: Field Training, in which you go out into the real world and install actual solar systems. This is an important part of the process since securing your Diploma, certificates, contractor licenses and personal certifications require proven solar installation experience.
How Much Does USSI’s Online Solar Training Cost?
Priced at $195, PV101 is without a doubt the best value on the market. You won’t find a solar course as comprehensive as this for any price, but we’ve deliberately made the module as affordable and accessible as possible. We believe in the solar revolution that much.
In addition, early registrants of PV101 can receive discounts for both online and in-class training modules offered later on.
If you can make it down to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for in-class solar training, we’d love to have you. Our classes are fun, intense, and simply awesome. If you’d prefer to enroll in our online solar training courses instead, register today.
