So you want to secure solar PV installation training, but you’re asking yourself – online solar courses vs. in-class training?

As with most things in life, the answer really depends.

Let’s look at some of the pros of both to help you determine which option is best for you.

Advantages of In-Class Solar PV Installation Training

When we asked our students what they enjoyed most about the in-class solar courses offered at our Fort Lauderdale, Florida campus, the answers were incredibly varied.  But we were able to categorize them under 4 main themes.

  • Advantage 1: Immediate Feedback – Most of them cited the ability to ask questions on the spot and receive direct feedback right away.  While you can always ask questions online as well, our students really appreciated the immediacy of responses received in a campus setting.
  • Advantage 2: Speed – Because our in-class solar courses are self-contained modules, you can complete the entire class in 40-hours.  This means that within a standard workweek, you can begin searching for solar installer jobs (after passing one of several exams, usually offered on the last day of training).
  • Advantage 3: Networking Opportunities – Because you’re working side-by-side with other students, lecturers, and guest speakers, there are more opportunities to develop business relationships.  Although the solar industry continues to expand rapidly, it’s still relatively small.  There’s tremendous benefit to building a roster of business contacts – especially if you’re new to the industry.
  • Advantage 4: You’ll Have Fun – Our classes are intense and packed with tons of information – but – they’re also a lot of fun.  We love solar and enjoy sharing this enthusiasm with the countless students who pass through our doors.  If you come to one of our campus training sessions, be prepared to have an amazing time.

Advantages of Online Solar PV Installation Training

When we asked these same students about the benefits of online solar courses, again, the responses were all over the place.  But we were able to identify 5 main themes.

  • Advantage 1: Location – With online solar training, you can live anywhere – not just in Florida or the United States – but anywhere in the world.  Master the fundamentals of solar installation from the comfort of home or your favorite coffee shop.  Basically, anywhere you have an Internet connection, you have access to one of the top solar training programs in the country.
  • Advantage 2: Cost – Our campus classes have limited space, so there are only so many students we can train in-class at any given time.  Because no such limitations exist in the online world, we’re able to dramatically reduce our prices for our Internet-based courses.  In addition, you also save on gas and transportation (if you live in Florida) and airfare and hotels (if you’re traveling from abroad).
  • Advantage 3: Flexibility – If you’re a stay-at-home parent, busy professional, or full-time student, blocking out enough time to visit us in sunny Florida may be challenging.  Not everyone has an entire workweek that they can devote to our intensive 40-hour in-class solar training courses.  With our online solar classes, this doesn’t matter.  Each module stays active for 30-60 days, with the option of extending it. This means you can chip away at your courses if and when you have time.  Want to finish everything in a few days – go ahead.  Want to spread your studies over a month or two – no problem.  With online solar training, you set a schedule that works for you.
  • Advantage 4: Start Dates – With our in-class solar courses, we have definite start-dates.  Perhaps you have plenty of free time – just not on the days when we’re offering classes in Fort Lauderdale.  But with online solar training, you can start whenever you want – Sunday afternoon, Tuesday morning, or Saturday evening.
  • Advantage 5: Review – Whether you study online or in-class, you’ll always have the notes, slides, and books at your disposal.  The beauty of online solar courses, however, is that you can access the actual lectures again and again, even after the class is finished.

So Which Solar Training Option Is Best for You?

Only you know which works better for your budget, schedule, and preferences.  But:

  • If you’re short on time and money or if you live outside of Florida, perhaps it’s worth exploring our online solar courses.
  • If you want to jump-start your career right away by completing your training ASAP and developing business contacts in the process, we invite you to our in-class solar PV training.

Either way, we hope to meet you sooner rather than later.  This is an exciting time to be in solar energy, and we’re thrilled to be able to help you on your journey.
